Unstress

Gratitude

A small daily practice that can quietly loosen stress's grip — notice a few good things, and let yourself feel them.

How gratitude helps with stress

Gratitude is the simple practice of noticing what's good — small or large — and letting yourself feel it. Regularly naming a few things you are grateful for can gently shift attention away from what is stressful and toward what is steady and supportive.

  • Shifts focus: stress narrows attention onto threats; gratitude widens it back toward what is going well.
  • Calms the body: pausing to appreciate something can slow the breath and ease tension.
  • Builds perspective: noticing support and small wins makes a hard period feel less all-consuming.
  • Supports sleep and mood for many people when practised regularly.

This is a gentle wellbeing practice, not a treatment, and it is not about ignoring real difficulties or forcing positivity. If stress feels overwhelming, the support resources are always here.

I'm grateful for…

A gentle starter for today: someone who helped you recently.

Writing them down is optional — you can also just use the daily reminder below as a nudge to pause and feel grateful.

Where to next?

If you feel at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or if you feel unable to stay safe, contact emergency services or a local crisis line immediately.

In an immediate emergency — if you or someone else is in danger — call your local emergency number now (112 in the EU, 911 in the US, 999 in the UK).
